Wooden Boat Festival
Every year the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum pays tribute to the hand crafted wooden boats of the Gulf Coast. Hundreds of boats will line the banks of the Tchefuncte River as 30,000+ wooden boat enthusiasts come to celebrate the wonders of wood and water.
“Bringing Louisiana’s Maritime History to Life” is the driving mission of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum. Located on the banks of the scenic Tchefuncte River in Madisonville, the LPBMM takes you on a historic journey through maritime Louisiana.
Every year since 1990, St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, hosts a tribute to the hand crafted wooden boats that made Louisiana’s maritime history and culture unique. Hundreds of boats will line the banks of the Tchefuncte River as over 30,000 attendees enjoy wooden boats, music, activities, and cajun cuisine. The Wooden Boat Festival funds the dynamic educational programs of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum and restoration of the Tchefuncte River Lighthouse. If you would like information about becoming a sponsor, please contact the museum at (985) 845-9200.
